Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
